Jared Jones, public school teacher, parent
Years ago, when I brought concerns as a parent, Ron Mock met with me over coffee and helped me understand a perspective that differed from my own. I've seen him consistently look for ways to ensure that all students from all backgrounds have the opportunities and support they need.
Ron is thoughtful and practical. He listens to all sides and asks unique questions. In the past year, when board discussions have sometimes gotten rough or personal, Ron has offered steady wisdom and a calm demeanor. In today's world, we need people like him to keep us (or get us) to talk.

I am so happy that I have the opportunity to vote for Ron Mock for School Board again! Ron is exactly the kind of person I love to see in government. He understands the importance of active listening and that there is value in all the voices, even if he can’t agree with them. His steady style of leadership is just what our school needs during this time of great change.
Mark Hall, George Fox University professor
It is with great pleasure that I endorse my longtime colleague and friend Ron Mock for the Newberg School Board. Ron and I worked together at George Fox University for twenty years, and I have come to greatly respect his wisdom, insight, and ability to work well with others. We did not always agree on proposed policies and programs at GFU, but our disagreements were always civil and the robust debate inevitably led to better decisions.
Ron is profoundly committed to public service and public education. He has long been involved in community mediation, he served on the Dundee Planning Commission from 2001 to 2013, and he has been on the school board since 2012. All four of his children graduated from Newberg High School.

Rebecca Piros, current Newberg School Board member
I have worked alongside with Ron Mock the past 3 years as school board director and would heartily endorse his re-election to the Zone 1 position. His depth of experience and knowledge of the school board and district is invaluable and Ron always considers what is best for the students and the stakeholders of the district, e.g. parents, staff, community members. He is deliberate in his decisions and brings up all sides to review before making a decision that will affect the district. I don’t always agree with him but he is very respectful and gracious yet firm that we handle our meetings in a professional and open manner. Ron has my total trust and respect and I urge you to vote for Ron Mock for Zone 1 School Board Director.
Polly Peterson, former NSD Board member:
One of the things I valued about working alongside Ron Mock when I served on the NSB was his integrity, his transparency. He believes in the democratic process and and power of an informed electorate.
I always could count on Ron to come to the meetings prepared, having read (and understood!) the financials, the pages of policy, the background information for the presentations being made that meeting. He encouraged discussion and civil debate.
You want to know Ron's opinion on issues? Look into the meetings in the past and see what he has said, where he has stood.
Want to know what he values, how he makes decisions? Read his statement on his Facebook page*. He votes his values; he lives his beliefs.
He cares about equity and opportunity for all of our children and puts energy behind the ideas.
(*Ron's note: you can find even better explanations of my views on this website, on the "About Me" page (under Home on the above menu) and the Vision page.)

I urge you to vote for my friend, Ron Mock.
1. Ron has experience on the school board. He's served well for two terms.
2. Ron is committed to open meetings. Of course, this is required by Oregon law, but Ron believes in hearing all sides of issues.
3. Ron is smart and well educated. He is still learning. He knows he doesn't have all the answers, and he is highly motivated to listen to people who disagree with him.
